An
evaluation of the work for the term.
This term we have done our unit 3 acting skills. This means
we have developed and explored our acting skills and evaluated them. Also we
had to use those acting skills in our rehearsals and our performance.
I feel this term has been helpful as I am now able to set
myself long term and short term targets and I am able to review those targets
and see if I have achieved them. Also I can now push myself to find new
targets, which will help improve my acting. I feel the reason why I can do
these things is because each week we were given the same sheet where we would
have to write about acting skills that we demonstrated and skills that we need
to develop. Also we have to set ourself three targets and then reflect on them
and decide if we have achieved them. Doing this every week helps me as I am now
more confident working independently, and I feel I can know evaluate my
progress.
Also this term we worked on developing our characters. We
did this by doing a number of exercises to help us get in to character. I feel this was something that was really
useful for me this term, as each time we
did character exercises I became more alike my character. This is because we had to think about what our
character was physically like and we had to think a lot about the journey our
character had been on. Doing these exercises were really helpful, as when I
rehearsed my scene I found it a lot easier to get into character and each time
we did an exercise I become more connected with my character. Because the
exercises made me think about what my character was physically like and what
her personality traits were. We also did
a character profile that we put on our blog. This helped us get in to character
as it made me think about my characters emotions and how her life events would affect
her personality.
This term we focused a lot on objective, what I am mean by
‘objective’ is what my character wants.
During the beginning of the term, we worked in our scene groups and we
had to think about what each of our character wanted in the scene. I did this
by studying our script and think about what our character does in the play.
This helped me play my character a lot as when I was saying my lines I thought about
why I was saying it and what I wanted by saying it, this improved my acting as
I feel it made my character be believable and relatable.
This term we also worked on how to apply the acting skills
within rehearsal and performance. We did
this as we set our self targets on Thursday’s lesson that were achievable by
next week. Then during the lesson we would have to work on the targets and
reflect on them before the following Thursday. This helped me use my acting
skills in rehearsals as I knew what I needed to work on therefore I am able to focus
on them. It helped me apply them to my
performance as I have been working on them all term therefore they came
naturally to me when I performed it.
In conclusion this term has been extremely useful for me as
I have learnt how to connect even more with my character. Also it has taught me
how to push myself to find ways I could improve my performance and I am now
confident in giving myself constructive criticism.
